Expanding Access to High-Quality DBT: A Shared Commitment to Hope and Excellence

Dr. Marsha Linehan established DBT-Linehan Board of Certification™ (DBT-LBC™), a 501c3 non-profit, to recognize clinicians and programs that have demonstrated competency in delivering DBT as it was designed, researched, and intended to be delivered. Our mission is to increase access to DBT while maintaining adherence to the highest standards of care. We envision a world where DBT is delivered with fidelity so there is less suffering, more joy, and individuals and their loved ones can build lives worth living.
Receiving the CARE Award from BPD Alliance is both a tremendous honor and a reflection of what can be accomplished through collaboration. We are deeply grateful to BPD Alliance for their leadership, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to supporting individuals living with Borderline Personality Disorder and the families who love them. Their work to reduce stigma, increase awareness, and provide education and hope has made a meaningful impact on countless lives.
At DBT-LBC™, we recognize that increasing access to high-quality mental health care requires partnership. Together with organizations like BPD Alliance, we are working toward a shared goal of helping individuals and families access effective, evidence-based treatment and the support they deserve.
While decades of research have demonstrated the effectiveness of DBT, access to high-quality, adherent DBT remains limited in many communities, leaving too many individuals and families without the care they need when they need it most. For many individuals, access to evidence-based treatment can be life-changing, and at times, lifesaving. DBT-LBC™ was established to help consumers identify clinicians and programs that have demonstrated competency in delivering DBT according to the treatment model developed and researched, while preserving the integrity of a treatment designed for individuals suffering.
When people are searching for help, they deserve transparency and confidence in the care they receive. Certification helps provide that clarity while supporting our broader mission of expanding access to high-quality, evidence-based DBT throughout the world.
We are honored and grateful to accept this award and we want to share this recognition with the advocates, families, clinicians, researchers, and individuals with lived experience who continue to advance this work. We are honored to partner with BPD Alliance and remain committed to increasing access to treatment that works, reduce suffering, and help more individuals and families build lives worth living.
With Gratitude,
Dr. Kimberly Vay, President, DBT-Linehan Board of Certification™
